Colorado Open Records Request

Delta County is committed to the principle of open and accessible government.  As such, Delta County is committed to fulfill every request for public records as efficiently and expeditiously as possible that is within the requirements established by the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA). Individuals, media and other representatives requesting public records should download the Delta County Open Records Act Policy (PDF) and follow the below steps to submitting a CORA Request Form. 

Delta County Sheriff's Office Criminal Justice Records

  • Criminal justice records that reside with the Delta County Sheriff's Office, including case reports, jail records, 911 recordings, Dispatch recordings, etc. 

Delta County Clerk and Recorder's Office

  • Recorded documents such as vital records, property plats, liens , easements, etc.

Judicial/ Court Records

  • Court records are maintained by the Colorado Judicial Branch.  Requests for court records must be filed in person at the Delta County Courthouse, Court Clerk Office on the third floor of the Courthouse at 501 Palmer Street in Delta.  Some records and court dockets are also available on the Colorado Judicial Branch website.

  1. You may be charged for the public records requested in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) and the Delta County Public Records Act Policy. You further acknowledge that some records may not be available for release or inspection per state and federal law; and if any such records are not available, you will be notified by Delta County.  With your electronic signature at the bottom of this form, you confirm your request for records described and agree to pay all fees for records requested in advance of any records being made available. 

    Paper copies:  $.25 per page
    Staff time:  After the first hour of time has been expended, Delta County may charge a fee for the research and retrieval of public records of thirty dollars ($30.00) per hour.

  2. Describe in detail the requested document(s) that you would like to inspect or request copies of. 

  3. Upload any additional documentation that would support your request.

  4. Electronic signature*

    By checking the "I agree" box below, you agree and acknowledge that 1) your request will not be signed in the sense of a traditional paper document, 2) by signing in this alternate manner, you authorize your electronic signature to be valid and binding upon you to the same force and effect as a handwritten signature, and 3) you may still be required to provide a traditional signature at a later date.

  5. Cost for Records Requested

    Upon receipt of the request, if needed, Delta County staff will respond with an estimated cost associated with processing the request. Fees for a CORA request must be paid for in full before records are released.  Please make checks payable to Delta County and mail check with copy of completed form to 560 Dodge Street, Delta, CO 81416 – Attn: CORA Request. To pay online, visit the Delta County Treasurer page on the GovPros website. On the payment screen, you must put account # 0010-1250 in the “Account Number(s)” field, and in the “payment notes field," note that it is for a CORA request--include the date of the original CORA Request.
