Sheriff's Office Remodel Complete - We Have Moved!

New Sheriffs Office at 211 W 6th Street in Delta

Sheriff's Office now at 211 W 6th Street in Delta

February 6, 2024

Sheriff Mark Taylor and Undersheriff Quinn Archibeque are excited to announce the completion of the Sheriff’s Office remodel project and the transition of the Sheriff’s Office to the new offices! The remodel project began in late summer 2023 after the Delta Library moved to its new home at 124 E 6th Street, allowing work to begin on the former library building to turn it into the Sheriff’s Office administration building and 9-1-1 dispatch center. The new Sheriff’s Office was completed the week of February 1, 2024 and is located at 211 W. 6th Street in Delta.

Sheriff’s Office staff have been busy this week moving to the new office which will house the Sheriff’s Office administration, support staff, records, victim services, 9-1-1 dispatch, and the civil, investigations, and patrol divisions. The Delta County Detention facility where inmates are housed, will remain in the existing detention facility at 555 Palmer Street.  The ground floor of the detention facility which used to house all the divisions which moved into the new office, will undergo a much-needed remodel to modernize the HVAC, plumbing and overall layout of the facility to bring it up to modern codes starting in March. Inmates will continue to be housed in the existing detention facility, during the remodel over the next few years.

Sheriff Mark Taylor is asking the public to please be patient while this transition takes place. The building which houses the detention center was built in 1985, 39 years ago, and has been in operation 24/7/365 since that time and as such, is in desperate need of repairs. When asked about the move to the new facility, Sheriff Taylor advised, “This is a bitter sweet transition for me and the Sheriff’s Office staff. The Sheriff’s Office has been in one place for 39 years and I have been coming to work here nearly 36 of those years. This has been my home away from home and a lot of good memories were made here, working with good people who care for this community. The staff is extremely happy for the new space and we all look forward for the opportunity to share our new space with the Delta County community and celebrate the next chapter for the Sheriff’s Office!”

Sheriff Taylor continued, “I would like to thank Delta County Commissioners Mike Lane, Wendell Koontz, and Don Suppes and County Administrator Robbie LeValley for their support of this project and for recognizing the need to increase space and modernize our public safety facilities to better serve the Delta County community. I would especially like to thank Commissioner Suppes for his leadership, knowledge and veracity for getting phase one of this large complex project started and completed.”

Sheriff Taylor also shared there will be an open house for the public in the near future to show off the remodeled facility after the move is fully complete and staff are able to settle into the new building. Starting February 6, 2024, please come to the new office at 211 W 6th Street to speak to a deputy, request civil service or criminal justice records or obtain a VIN inspection at the Sheriff’s Office. The public entry is located on the south side of the Office on 6th street and we are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except on major holidays.

Phone numbers to dispatch and the Sheriff's Office front desk remain the same.
