Town of Crawford - Wiley Springs Rehab Project and Project Updates

As the Town of Crawford prepares to perform maintenance at Wiley Springs, which is the source water for the Town of Crawford water system and Crawford Mesa Water system, it is important for domestic water users on both these systems stay up to date on the progress of the work being performed and impacts to domestic water. 

The Town of Crawford and Crawford Mesa Water Company along with Delta County Emergency Management would like to encourage all Crawford area residents to take two steps now to ensure you are updated about not only this water system repair but also major emergencies. 

Step 1:  Sign up for Delta County Alerts for Emergency Notifications

Delta County 9-1-1 Dispatch and Delta County Emergency Management utilize Delta County Alerts as the official emergency notification system for Delta County, the area south of Crawford to the North Rim of the Black Canyon and up Hwy 133 to the top of McClure Pass. We encourage all Crawford area residents to sign up for Delta County Alerts to receive alerts about major emergencies such as wildfires, floods, gas leaks, evacuation orders, missing adults and kids, etc.  This is a FREE service but you have to sign up to receive the alerts!  This service enables you to receive an automated phone call, text message and/or email during an incident. 

Here are a few things to know about emergency alerts:  

• If you have a landline phone, your name, address and landline number are registered in the system but your cell phone is not unless you create an account and register your cell phone. Please contact Emergency Management and we can assist you in registering to avoid duplicate entries in the system. 
• If you signed up between 2023 and now and do not remember entering your address, please go back into your account and enter your address!  Alerts are based on your address so it is important a current address, phone number and email be in the system.  You can register multiple addresses so please register your home, place of work, kid’s school, place of worship, and any other locations you frequent in Delta County if you wish to be alerted in those areas as well! 
• By default, you will only receive alerts near your registered address(es). However, if you would like alerts for any incident within Delta County and the Delta County 9-1-1 Service Area, please select the “Send me all alerts for the Delta County 911 Service area regardless of location” option.

Step 2: Sign up for Water Repair Updates from the Town of Crawford/Crawford Mesa

To keep residents informed of updates during the Wiley Springs improvement project, Delta County Emergency Management has created a notification channel for Crawford area residents to opt-into for updates.  To receive updates via text about the water system repairs, please text “crawfordwater” to “65513” and you will be put in a group to receive text updates from the Town of Crawford about the Wiley Springs repairs and impacts to your domestic water.  Updates will be pushed from the Town of Crawford to Emergency Management who will issue the alerts. 

If at anytime you no longer wish to receive alerts about the water system updates you can text “crawfordstop” to 65513 to opt-out of text notifications.  

Important – you can still receive text updates about the water system even if you do not wish to receive emergency alerts.  We strongly encourage all residents to do both though.
