Visiting Delta County on vacation or to see friends/family? Opt-into emergency alerts during your stay for 7-days by texting "visitdeltacounty" to 65513. The 7-day window starts when you hit submit on your text and after 7-days your cell phone number will be automatically deleted from the system. After you text the enrollment phrase, the system will put you in a group to receive all alerts issued during your 7-day stay and you will receive phone calls and texts to that number. Staying for longer than 7-days? You can text again after 7-days has elapsed or contact Delta County Emergency Management via email and staff will enroll you in the system for a longer period of time.

2. Download the Genasys Protect AppDelta County Alerts is powered by Genasys Alert, a cloud based solution Delta County pays for annually to issue Emergency Alerts. As of May 2024, Genasys has a brand new mobile app called Genasys Protect. Residents/visitors to Delta County who download the app will receive push notifications from for emergency alerts via the app.
*Note - The Genasys Protect App only receives alerts from jurisdictions who have Genasys as their emergency alert provider. The following Counties in Western Colorado utilize Genasys: Delta, Montrose, Gunnison, Ouray, San Miguel and Hinsdale. The app will send notices to your phone if any alerts are issued by these jurisdictions and you are within the alert area. If you travel to a county which utilizes another app provider, then you will not be alerted. Example - Mesa County uses Everbridge for their Emergency Alerts so you will NOT receive alerts via the App for Mesa County. | |

Alerts via the FEMA Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
When an incident such as a major wildfire breaks out, Delta County Emergency Management has the ability to issue a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA).
- A WEA is the same type of alert as an Amber Alert where your phone will emit a distinct alert tone, vibration and message on the screen you must acknowledge.
- WEA alerts are only sent for major incidents which have the possibility to impact public and life safety. These are the highest level of alert issued and are not common.
- No registration is required and you do NOT have to download an app.
- Wireless Emergency Alerts are turned on by default in your phone. However, we recommend you confirm they are enabled so you can receive a WEA when issued by Delta County or any other jurisdiction where you may be traveling. To check your wireless emergency alert settings on your phone, click on the phone operating system you have: Android | iPhone

- I signed up for CodeRED years ago - Do I have to sign up again?
-
Possibly - Delta County changed from CodeRED to Genasys as our Emergency Alert providers in January 2023. During that transition, we imported the majority of residents who had signed up with CodeRED into the Genasys system and if you had a cell phone or email registered with CodeRED, that created an account in Genasys. If your data was imported and is in the new Delta County Alerts database, when you try and register it will tell you your phone/email is already registered. This means some of your data was brought over but you need to set a password for your Delta County Alerts account. To finish your registration, visit the Delta County Alerts login page and select "Forgot your password?" This will enable you to set a new password and sign in to complete your profile. If you need assistance you can email Emergency Management.
