Market Livestock Nominations

Market Livestock Nominations:


1. Market animals to be exhibited in the Delta County Fair must be identified by an Official Delta County Fair ear tag. Exhibitors may choose to tag their own animals in accordance with the Delta County Fair Livestock Online Nomination Process as detailed in the rules governing each specific species.

2. Delta County Fair Board will hold Tag-In dates for those exhibitors not wanting to tag their own animals. These dates will be as follows:

~ Beef: February 8th: 1:00-3:00

 

  • Tag Check out (for those not bringing animals to tag-in) for Beef will beat the Delta County Fairgrounds on the day of the tag in.
  • NO TAGS WILL BE HANDED OUT AFTER THIS DATE. If you fail to pick up tags, OR attend the tag-in, at the county fairgrounds you will not be allowed to enter the 2025 Delta County Fair.
  • ALL market animal exhibitors will be required to upload nomination information in 4-HOnline. FOR BEEF THIS INFORMATION IS DUE BY 4:30 PM ON FEBRUARY 14, 2025.
  • Bred & Fed nominations are required to upload buyer affidavit(s).
  • Any incomplete nominations will not be accepted and will not show at the 2025 Delta County Fair. (This includes missing brand inspections and pictures not clearly showing the DCF ear tag as well as the animal. The exhibitor must be present in at least one photo.)
  • NO taggers will be available for individual use, members without tagging equipment should attend tag in dates provided by the fair board. The tags that will be provided are Y-TEX brand and require Y-TEX taggers to be used when placing them on the animal(s).

 

~ Sheep and Goats: May 3rd: 9:00 am-11:00 am

 

  • Tag Check out (for those not bringing animals to tag-in) for Sheep and Goats will be at the Delta County Fairgrounds on the day of the tag in.
  • NO TAGS WILL BE HANDED OUT AFTER THIS DATE. If you fail to pick up tags, OR attend the tag-in, at the county fairgrounds you will not be allowed to enter the 2025 Delta County Fair.
  • ALL market animal exhibitors will be required to upload nomination information in 4-HOnline. FOR SHEEP AND GOATS THIS INFORMATION IS DUE BY 4:30 PM ON May 9, 2025.
  • Bred & Fed nominations are required to upload buyer affidavit(s).
  • Any incomplete nominations will not be accepted and will not show at the 2025 Delta County Fair. (This includes pictures not clearly showing the DCF ear tag as well as the animal. Pictures not clearly showing the scrapie tag are not acceptable. The exhibitor must be present in at least one photo.)
  • NO taggers will be available for individual use, members without tagging equipment should attend tag in dates provided by the fair board. The tags that will be provided are Y-TEX brand and require Y-TEX taggers to be used when placing them on the animal(s).

 

~ Swine will be nomination process only.

 

  • Market Swine will not have a physical tag-in. The process for swine will be as it has been in prior years. Tag Check out will be on May 2, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Delta County Extension Office
  • NO TAGS WILL BE HANDED OUT AFTER THIS DATE. If you fail to pick up tags, you will not be allowed to enter the 2025 Delta County Fair.
  • ALL market animal exhibitors will be required to upload nomination information in 4-HOnline. FOR SWINE THIS INFORMATION IS DUE BY 4:30 PM ON MAY 9, 2025.
  • Bred & Fed nominations are required to upload buyer affidavit(s).
  • Any incomplete nominations will not be accepted and will not show at the 2025 Delta County Fair. (This includes pictures not clearly showing the DCF ear tag as well as the animal. Ear notches must be recorded in the upload. The exhibitor must be present in at least one photo.)
  • NO taggers will be available for individual use, members without tagging equipment should attend tag in dates provided by the fair board. The tags that will be provided are Y-TEX brand and require Y-TEX taggers to be used when placing them on the animal(s). 

3. If an exhibitor, or their designee does not complete the required online documentation, if they choose to not attend the tag-in and pay the required fees, they will not be allowed to exhibit the animal(s) at the upcoming fair.

4. ALL MALE ANIMALS MUST BE CASTRATED OR BANDED BY INITIAL NOMINATION DATE. BANDED TESTICLES MUST HAVE FALLEN OFF OR BEEN REMOVED PRIOR TO SHOW TAG-IN. Any animal found to be out of compliance will not be allowed to show at the fair

 5. Original Brand inspection certificates on all market beef must be presented to the Brand Inspector at the time of final weigh-in at Fair. NO ANIMAL WILL BE WEIGHED IN AT FAIR UNLESS THE BRAND CERTIFICATE IS IN HAND WHEN COMING TO THE SCALES.

 6. At initial nominations, there will be no limit on the number of animals nominated. However, due to space limitations, only 2 market animals per exhibitor for goats, sheep, swine, and beef can be brought to and exhibited at Fair.

 7. Exhibitors MUST have met all their individual county requirements in order to participate in the Colorado State Fair. This includes all of the county specific nomination procedures.

 8. FAMILY ANIMAL NOMINATIONS: Family Nominations of Jr. Market Livestock will be accepted. At the time of nominations, all exhibitors may “family nominate” all animals according to the following guidelines:

  • The exhibitors must legally reside in the same household and are siblings, step siblings, or legally adopted.
  • The exhibitors must all permanently reside in the same county.
  • The livestock must be in continuous care of the exhibitors residing at the same residence.
  • Livestock must not be sold or transferred out of the exhibitor’s custody at any time after the nomination process is complete.
  • The individual who will be showing the family nominated animal MUST be declared at the time of Pre-Entry. An animal can only be entered by one exhibitor or the entry is considered invalid and that animal is not eligible to show.
